Job Description

Calling licensed teachers who are ready to stop managing school and start changing lives.

What if your job no longer revolved around lesson plans, lectures, or grading—but instead focused entirely on mentoring kids to become confident, capable humans?

At Unbound Academy, teaching looks different by design. This is a hybrid role supporting a fully virtual, tuition-free Arizona charter school that replaces worksheets with hands-on learning and puts personal growth at the center. Students complete core academics independently using AI-powered tools in two focused hours a day. The rest of their time is spent building real skills through guided workshops, coaching, and exploration.

You won’t be delivering scripted lessons or policing a virtual classroom. You’ll be leading high-energy online sessions that challenge students to think, create, collaborate, and grow. You’ll mentor them through storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness, and problem-solving while helping them develop independence, confidence, and executive function.

This role is not for educators trying to replicate traditional school on Zoom. It’s for licensed teachers willing to relocate to Arizona, work in a hybrid model, and support students in a way that actually prepares them for life. If you’re done with classroom busywork and ready to do the most meaningful work of your career, keep reading.

What you will be doing
  • Leading interactive virtual workshops focused on life skills such as communication, creativity, problem-solving, and self-direction
  • Mentoring students one-on-one and in small groups to build confidence, ownership, and executive functioning
  • Using platform data and student signals to personalize support and track progress over time
  • Collaborating with fellow educators to design and continuously improve project-based learning experiences
  • Creating a safe, high-energy environment where students feel seen, challenged, and motivated to grow

What you will not be doing
  • Teaching core academic subjects; those are handled by adaptive AI tutors
  • Delivering scripted lectures or managing a traditional classroom model
  • Grading worksheets, assigning homework, or preparing standardized lesson plans

Key Responsibilities

Support student growth and life readiness by leading transformative, real-world learning experiences within a hybrid, fully virtual school model.

Candidate requirements
  • Available to start on August 1st, 2026
  • Valid U.S. teaching certificate from any state, or an expired certificate eligible for reinstatement, with certification transferable to Arizona

  • At least 3 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth ages 8–14
  • Educated (K–16) within the U.S., Canada, or U.K. school systems

Job Description

What if your job was to keep kids energized, supported, and excited to show up—without lesson plans, grading, or academic pressure?

This role exists for people who are great with kids and thrive in motion. In Unbound Academy’s fully virtual, tuition-free charter model, students move quickly through academics using AI tools, then spend the rest of their day in live, interactive workshops focused on life skills, collaboration, and confidence. Your job is to help those moments run smoothly and feel great for students.

You’ll be the connective tissue of the experience. You’ll manage transitions, support small groups, keep momentum high, and step in when a student needs encouragement or clarity. You won’t teach content—but without you, the experience doesn’t work.

If you’ve led kids in camps, after-school programs, sports, tutoring, or youth organizations—and you’re excited by a hybrid role that blends virtual energy with real-world collaboration—this is a chance to help school feel human again.

What you will be doing
  • Supporting live virtual workshops by managing breakout rooms, transitions, pacing, and group flow
  • Encouraging participation through chat, shout-outs, nudges, and personal check-ins with students
  • Helping students stay engaged, confident, and connected throughout the learning day
  • Assisting lead educators with behind-the-scenes logistics that keep sessions running smoothly
  • Acting as a consistent, trusted presence in student clubs and life-skills tracks
What you will not be doing
  • Creating lesson plans, grading work, or assessing academics
  • Designing curriculum or running workshops independently
  • Sitting back or observing passively—this is an active, high-energy role
  • Teaching academic subjects or delivering instructional content
Key Responsibilities

Support vibrant, virtual learning experiences by ensuring students remain engaged, organized, and energized throughout each workshop session.

Candidate requirements
  • Available to start on August 1, 2026
  • At least 3 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth
  • Educational background within U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have attended school in one of these countries
  • Strong communication skills and high comfort operating across digital platforms
  • Energizing, student-first presence with strong attention to detail and smooth transitions
  • Willing to work full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm U.S. Mountain Time (UTC-7)
  • Willing to work in a hybrid role in Arizona.

Reading Interventionist

Location

Arizona, United States

Salary

USD$60,000/yr

Job Description

You know the switch. The moment a student stops guessing and starts reading with control. They look up and say, “I can do this.” If that’s the work you want to do every day, you’ll feel at home here.

Unbound is a remote-first online school built for real growth, not seat time. We’re redesigning how students learn so they progress faster, enjoy the process, and leave with confidence you can measure.

Most weeks, you’ll run high-impact intervention sessions. The rest, you’ll lead quick motivation check-ins that keep students on track and hitting goals. This role suits people who like autonomy, tight feedback loops, and outcomes they can see. It’s not for anyone who wants a fixed script or shies away from data.

If you want to help struggling readers make meaningful gains—and you want the freedom to tailor your approach to each student—we’d like to meet you.

What you will be doing
  • Design and deliver virtual small-group and one-on-one reading intervention sessions for students in grades 3–8
  • Use reading assessment data to target fluency and comprehension gaps and adjust instruction quickly
  • Differentiate activities across multiple reading levels, including support for dyslexia and related reading difficulties
  • Track progress in a clear, consistent way and use the data to plan the next sessions
  • Run structured motivation check-ins that build confidence, persistence, and pride in growth
What you will NOT be doing
  • Teach large, whole-class lessons or lecture from a fixed curriculum
  • Follow a pre-scripted program without adapting to student needs and real-time feedback
  • Act as a passive “software monitor” without meaningful instruction and connection
  • Rely on shallow rewards that do not build lasting motivation
Key responsibilities

Own outcomes for grades 3–8—measurable gains in fluency and comprehension—by delivering personalized virtual interventions and motivation support that builds confidence.

Candidate requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, or a closely related field
  • Reading intervention certification or endorsement (e.g., Arizona Reading Specialist K-12 or equivalent state certification)
  • Specialized training or certification in dyslexia intervention (or related structured literacy approaches)
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering small-group or one-on-one reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
  • Ability to interpret progress monitoring data and use it to plan and adjust instruction
  • Strong ability to engage and manage students in a virtual setting through clear, motivating communication
  • Available to work in a hybrid capacity in Arizona as needed.
